Cattails and lily pads!

Today’s ride is quite arguably the most beautiful in my lifetime. The sun was shining amidst white fluffy clouds. We had occasional side winds but mostly tailwinds. We both seem amazed at the strength we’ve acquired riding consecutive days. The human body is amazing!!

We are still in logging country. We’ve seen a lot of wildlife-a bull frog, house cat, coyote, wild turkeys, deer and a bat! Along the road’s edge at the top of telephone poles, we saw eagle’s nests!

Around noon we found an amazing coffee shop that was buzzing with activity-Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters. We sat outside and had a great conversation with Penelope and her family. Mom was telling us all about Sandpoint and the neighboring communities. She relates the uniqueness of the lake, being about 5 miles deep! I’ll definitely have to learn more!!
After leaving, we transitioned from Highway 2 to Highway 200, continuing along Lake Pend Oreille. Soon we started seeing cyclists on the opposite side of the road participating in the Chafe150 Gran Fondo. Over the following hours, we witnessed a community riding for charity. Such a beautiful site.
Arriving at our destination around 3:30 PM, we had an easy day with just a little over 1,000 feet of climbing.
Today completed our first two weeks of tour. It has been a life changing experience already and we have yet so much ahead.
Thank you all for pedaling with us and for sharing your thoughts and comments. It’s such a small world.
