Run, piggy, run!!

Today is another day of climbing with the start into a head wind. Our bodies have settled in and now realize each day we ride.

The route takes us through beautiful meadows, some with cattle, others with cattails decorated with red winged black birds. The birds definitely noticed us and were sounding alarms about our presence. We passed by one farm where there were goats and pigs. When they saw us, the pigs ran squealing, tails flying. The goats took notice too and scattered as well. One area, where there were about 100 head of cattle, the babies began running away first followed by the adults. Soon they were together with the adults on the outer circle, like sentinels.
With continual climbs, we made our way to Wauconda Pass. Up and over and down the other side to an almost endless descent.
Arriving into Republic, our routine of a hot shower and dinner ensued. The past few days of climbing has made us hungry for ‘real food’. We opted for salad, grilled chicken breast, broccoli, mashed potatoes and toast. It was so delicious but way more than we could eat so we had enough for lunch the following day. We’ve become masters of re-engineering meals!
Tomorrow is yet another ’work day’ with Sherman Pass on the route.

Hope you’re having fun traveling with us! We sure enjoy having you with us!
