There’s nothing like a dandelion ready to burst!

When we woke up this morning, there was stuff everywhere, as if our belongings were fluffs ready to float off in the air!

A room versus a tent allows us to unpack and repack making sure all panniers stay weighted equally. So important when balancing the bike. And it’s quite pleasing in a strange sort of way-like playing Tetris or a block puzzle.
We spent time inspecting and cleaning the bikes. It’s like washing your own car and noticing the shopping cart dings, worn windshield wipers or tire tread. So important in maintaining the vehicle.

We definitely notice we are at higher latitude. It’s light earlier and later making it easy to stay up late.

We have our patterns set now-vitamins go in this pouch, phone there. And, while we can pack leftovers from dinner the night before, it doesn’t work for ice cream so that has to be breakfast. lol!

We are thankful to be in cooler temperatures than back home.

Off we went onto our next best day. Along the route, we stopped at Fred Meyer in Burlington for supplies and found Lori Foster-Agon chickens. I think people thought we were odd as we laughed with all our hearts remembering Lori launch chickens across the office! Good memories!

The next town, Sedro Woolley, had a street fair going on. It’s so fun to tour…stop when you see something interesting, taking your time, realizing stats are just that-numbers. As well, having the mindset that we may never pass this way again. There were lots of cool wooden statues and I got my ‘bear’ moment.

Not far from there, we entered a wooded bike path. So peaceful to ride through the trees. At one point, we encountered another cyclist riding across the USA-Jeff from Scottsdale. He had dreamed of this ride since he was a teenager. And now he is living his dream! So special to share moments like this with someone. And so incredibly happy he is living his dream! I wonder if we will ever cross paths again. If not, we are all the richer for meeting him.

We continued along the wooded path to areas where the creek flowed. There were wooden bridges/pallets that allowed us to travel across the water. Soon we were out of the trees and into a more open area. We crossed a river where flowers were blooming along the water’s edge and it reminded me of Monet’s garden. So incredibly beautiful. Continuing east, we came along big ranches, one that had bison. They are so majestic!

A little after 5, we rolled into our campsite at Grady Creek KOA. Our site was along a creek creating the most soothing sound to sleep by. A quick jog to Birdsview Diner for dinner where April made us feel so at home. Such a perfect end to a perfect day.
