The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the path of rigor His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,for You are with me.
Your rod and staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The night skies, in all their wrath, bore down upon Custer. There was a tapping at our second story window. Rain? Hail? Or a lost soul seeking refuge?

While our weather changes, it has not been severe. We are hearing of the floods in Texas…39 inches of rain. And the tremendous loss of lives. It makes us feel so deeply saddened. How do you deal with losing your baby girl? And I am reminded of the event at Quake Lake in 1959. One can never prepare for something like that.

The day with spent praying for every one affected.

We are, once again, some of the first signs of life in the morning. The rain from the night before erased all the tire marks on the trail leaving a creamy colored surface with tiny rocks/bumps. It reminded me of the drop biscuits Mom used to make. Looking ahead, was a blank slate and behind us, two sets of tracks, ours…a witness to our place and time…soon to be erased by others.
The trail is so peaceful as cars are generally a bit away. After about two hours, others were also enjoying the trail. We traveled past Pringle and on to Hot Springs. In 2023, there was a lot of road construction going on downtown so it was difficult to explore. Today, the road was smooth and we spent time looking at the buildings, reading about its history and taking it all in.
We had such a relaxing day. On to the KOA camp for the night, we enjoyed chatting with the camp host and other campers. The sky was robust with billowing clouds so Drew brought the drone out to capture them.
We are grateful for such a beautiful day and for all of you. Each day is such a gift.
