Rise and shine!
After a restful night, we awaken to a beautiful, sunny morning.
Our first fun experience was watching a Terex roll down the street…especially funny as cyclists are after called T-Rex because their legs are disproportionately sized to their arms-like the dinosaur. A short walk took us to McDonald’s for breakfast. We love their coffee!
Back at camp, Drew washed, inspected and adjusted cables, keeping the bikes in tiptop condition. In the afternoon, we rode to the grocery store for supplies. Leaving Drew outside with the bikes, I came out to find him in deep conversation with a man who was from Albuquerque. We shared the wonders of bike touring and encouraged him to do it sooner than later. The people in the community have been so kind and helpful.
We are staying at a KOA camp and are amazed by the number of HUGE RVs with tow vehicles that we see. There must be millions of dollars worth of rigs parked here. It’s mind boggling!
Later in the afternoon, we explored the camp and walked the nearby stream. After finding a snake skin, we decided we’d explored enough!
Today marks one month since we left Southern California for our journey. It means one month of exploration, amazing cardio exercise and meeting wonderful people. It’s also been a month since I’ve vacuumed a floor, cleaned a toilet or sleep in our bed. Honestly, I don’t miss it! lol! I don’t wake up in the middle of the night wondering where I am but sometimes when someone asks where we started from that morning, it’s hard to remember…it all blends together, especially if I’m hot and tired.
Tomorrow we will continue east on Interstate 90. It has had an amazing well maintained shoulder.
