It’s 1:30 am. We are snug in our KOA log cabin and I awaken with the most weird feeling. Almost panicked, I sit up and take a deep breath. As my mental awareness increases, I remember this. Altitude. I experience this each visit to Park City, Utah where I’ve traveled nearly every year since 1982. And now, riding the bike day after day, my resting heart rate has dropped to the high 40’s/low 50’s and respirations have drop below 10/minutes perhaps making me fall even deeper into a lower oxygenation state. Stay calm. Slow deep breaths. Ah. It passes.
Today is our scheduled day off intended to rest, restore and restock. We awaken to a beautiful morning. Heading into town from the KOA camp, we walk the streets, people watch and enjoy a relaxing day. Cold rainy days remind us of our childhoods and chicken noodle soup or chili. We found a restaurant named Slippery Otter and can you believe they had a sampler dish of French onion soup, chicken tortilla soup and chili. Drew found the mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. Life doesn’t get much better!!
So fun talking with the locals who all seem to have come from somewhere else. Back at camp, we got organized and prepared for our travel to Grant’s Village inside of Yellowstone. We want to roll out early as we are told that’s when we are most likely to see the animals. And it’s easier to get through the entrance.
Until tomorrow!
