What a special day! For so many reasons!
31 years ago I became a mom to a really awesome human! We’ve had so much fun over the years, traveling, trying new things…and sharing adventures like sledding on glaciers, driving high performance cars, standing beneath the Eiffel Tower and kayaking on the Colorado river. And so much more!Thank you Jake!
Today means we are about half way through our tour, both in days and distance. Our tour is planned up to July 27th and Moline, IA. Beyond that is unscripted with each day an adventure.
Today was rather short because we wanted to stay in Mitchell and see the Corn Palace. Wow! First built in 1892.
We enjoyed a beautiful ride to Mitchell along County Road 34 after starting with coffee at Jake’s Corner. There were bird houses where chimney swifts were nesting/flying. While quite humid, the light breeze cooled us. We passed through small towns with the most kind and engaging people. A quick stop at the bike shop in Mitchell, family owned-third generation- we met true professionals.
After a seeing the Corn Palace and enjoying lunch nearby, we meandered to our camp for the night-Mitchell KOA-a beautiful camp with amazing staff.
Cycling life is fairly predictable and simple-laundry every 3 days, daily showers, prepare for the next day. It’s amazing what one actually ’needs’.
Hope you had an amazing day!!
